WHAT IS:

Reno Tahoe Junior Cycling (often shortened to RTJC) is a youth-focused cycling organization based in the Reno–Tahoe region. Its mission is to introduce, develop, and support young athletes in the sport of cycling. The organization touches endurance and enduro mountain biking, gravel, and cyclocross.

The organization emphasizes:

Skill development – teaching safe riding, bike handling, and racing techniques.

Competition pathways – supporting juniors who want to race locally, regionally, or nationally.

Community and mentorship – connecting young riders with experienced coaches, peers, and cycling culture.

Healthy lifestyle – encouraging fitness, outdoor adventure, and teamwork.

RTJC often works with other community organizations to grow junior participation in cycling, from entry-level riders to high-performance athletes aiming for collegiate or national competition.

WHAT IS:

CLUB TEAM

During the summer months, RTJC hosts the RTJC Club Team. Open to new or developing younger riders below the age of 10, the Club Team focuses on rides in various locations around the Reno area. Riders are broken into groups to gain the best possible experience. The RTJC Club Team is a great place for your child to start riding or hone their skills with the option to eventually join RenoDevo.

WHAT IS:

RACE DEVELOPMENT TEAM

A mountain biking race development team primarily serving the Northern Nevada and Lake Tahoe area but open to young athletes within the mountain west. Athletes, ages 10 to 18, train to develop on-bike skills and fitness while learning what it takes to stand on the podium. Instruction is provided by USA Cycling licensed coaches who develop structured team workouts and semi-custom training plans all with an emphasis on community and team building. Structured team training begins in January and typically ends in June of every year.
